After 3 degrees, 8 years studying psychology, and a stable job in government strategy, I gave it all up to become a copywriter. That is not a typo. And no I’m not an idiot. Or at least that’s what I keep trying to tell my parents.
I got my first agency gig on the account side, but quickly knew I wanted to be a writer. Before I could make that happen, I needed a book. And I needed a beard. Luckily there was already a sizable beard growing from my face. The book, would take a bit more work. While rising the ranks in account, I spent my nights and weekends like a typical 20 something – poring over award annuals, getting feedback, and negotiating fair-trade deals with friends who could layout my ideas. After a few months, I finished my spec book, landed my first full-time writing gig, and I’ve never looked back.
So logically the next step in this journey was Photoshopping my head onto pop icon Charlie Puth’s body. I truly believe that’s what he would have wanted.
And in closing, please enjoy this replay of me making an uncontested layup at TD Garden.
